Sometimes a more subtle approach to web design is best, especially when you want your content to be the main focus. Today’s collection is my personal pick of clean, minimal WordPress theme which not only work for portfolio’s, but also shops, resume’s and much more.
1. Gaze | Responsive Multipurpose WordPress Theme
Top of my collection today is our latest offering (at time of writing anyway) – Gaze for WordPress. Gaze offers a unique collection of powerful, but minimal elements which allow you to build all kinds of sites from expansive portfolio’s to e-commerce pages and everything in-between.
Gaze is powered by the very popular WPBakery Page Builder, bundled with a wide range of bespoke elements, each expertly designed to be beautiful to look at, a breeze to use. As well as the awesome power of WPBakery Page Builder you will be able to create outstanding sliders thanks to the included Slider Revolution plugin, meaning Gaze is an exceptional value too.
2. Candar – Freelancers & Agencies Responsive WordPress Theme
Next up I have chosen another one from our fine portfolio – the sublime Candar WordPress Theme, one of our finest and minimalist themes to date.
Being a TommusRhodus theme, we have made Candar stunning to look at, as well as a delight to use, so we built Candar to utilize the incredible power of WPBakery Page Builder. The theme is aimed for creatives such as agencies and photographers, with a strong emphasis on clean lines and white space, so you content and imagery will really shine.
3. Stack – Multi-Purpose WordPress Theme with Variant Page Builder & Visual Composer
Ok so I usually try and wedge my next pick into most of our collections, but this is because is really is just SO flexible! Stack for WordPress is our flagship theme and has quickly become our top-selling product, and given just how powerful and truly flexible Stack is, that really should be no surprise.
One feature which really lets Stack stand head and shoulders above the rest is the theme gives you a choice of two different page builders. If you want to quickest and simplest method to create stunning pages from our selection of 100s of pre-built sections, then Variant is for you. Looking for something more granular? No problem, WPBakery Page Builder is there for you – just pick your weapon of choice when getting started and your all set.

As Proton has been built to give you the most flexible set of portfolio options around, you will find a huge number of awesome layouts for you work – on top of this, the theme is powered by WPBakery Page Builder packed with a bunch of bespoke elements to really allow you to take control.
5. Glacier – Minimal WordPress Portfolio Theme
My next pick is another fine portfolio theme, this time of a newcomer to our theme collections, MountainThemes. Glacier is the perfect blend of modern design, and classic typography and the thoughtful design shines throughout.
As well as the usual collection of plugins (Visual Composer, Slider Revolution etc) Glacier is also compatble with WooCommerce so you can easily create a stunning online shop. 6. Samanta – Minimal Portfolio WordPress Theme
My next choice is the freshest offering on today’s list – released just yesterday, but oh boy what a tasty theme it is. Samanta from FastWP really takes minimal design principles and applies them to glorious effect.
What is really refreshing with Samanta however, is just how lean it is, You wont find a page builder here, just clever design and the post-types you need to get the job done, but its this lazer-focused effort which I think really allows you to get straight to the point when creating your online presence, so you can quickly get back to what you do best, creating awesome works.
7. Kelly – Minimal Portfolio & Photography WordPress Theme
My next theme is from another newcomer to our collections – Kelly from oliverthemes is a the ideal canvas for crafting a truly eye-catching portfolio of work aimed and graphic designers, photographers and more.
Being a minimal theme, Kelly foregoes the usual mix of page builders etc, in there place is an awesome post format UI which makes it very simple to create video posts, galleries and more, so if your looking for the simplest solution for either yourself or your client’s portfolio site, this fits the bill.
8. Arnold. – Minimal Portfolio WordPress Theme
Stepping away from the stripped-back themes above, my next choice of theme is absolutely jam-packed with awesome features – all wrapped up in a stunningly simplistic design.
Arnold by bwsm is a formidable mix of features such as custom drag and drop page builder, built specifically for the job so no extra fluff you dont need here! Also, Arnold packs a brilliant drag and drop portfolio designer so you create tildes galleries EXACTLY how you see fit – a truly unique feature indeed.
9. Gonjjo – Minimal WooCommerce Theme
Whilst most of the above themes lean towards creating portfolio and galleries – Gonjjo by Themes-Hub aims to be the perfect minimalist e-commerce solution for those looking to create an online shop with a clean, modern and timeless design.
Gonjoo is powered by one on my favourite page building solutions, the wonderful (and free) KingComposer page builder. Although this page builder may not be familiar to many of you out there, its similarity to Visual Composer means it feels like an old friend to use. The theme also features a unique AJAX powered search system to really wow any potential shoppers.
10. Brungilda – Photography WordPress theme
My final pick today was an easy final addition to this collection, as its design just oozes class. Brungilda by Alfafox is a interesting mix of minimal design, striking use of imagery and almost newspaper-esque typography.
Brungilda is built upon Visual Composer so designing pages is quick and easy. As well as offering a powerful portfolio, the theme also lends itself to blogging too, so if you run a busy blog and want to give a more traditional printed look and feel, this theme is for you.
